What Are The Ovaries?

The ovaries are part of the woman’s reproductive system. They are a pair of small, oval organs, about one and a half inches long, and are located on each side in the lower abdomen (pelvis). Their function is to secrete hormones that regulate menstrual cycles and pregnancy. The egg that is released each month during a woman’s fertile cycle originates from the ovary.
