Issues that confront a woman diagnosed with cancer can seem overwhelming. Concerns about health and survival, sexuality, changing body image, the rigors of treatment, fears about recurrence, worries about her spouse and children are just some of the issues the diagnosis raises. There are support networks locally and nationally that provide information and resources for women and their families. It can provide some degree of comfort for women to connect with others that understand their concerns. If you are a health care professional who referred your patient to a gynecological-oncologist for ovarian cancer care, it would be important to ensure that the patient has access to these resources.
